The Courage to “Be”

Expressive paintings exploring joy, reinvention, and presence

A Return to Wonder

This work is an act of remembering — a return to play and curiosity, and to what keeps us grounded and alive.

My art lives at the intersection of joy and transformation. After years of carrying responsibility, navigating loss, and guiding others through their own storms, creativity became my way back to myself. Painting gives me permission to play again — to follow instinct, curiosity, and truth instead of expectation. I’m drawn to expressive subjects—especially those revealed only in part or caught in motion. A tilted head, a slight grin, a hand mid-gesture—each holds an entire emotional world. Through bold color, loose strokes, and exaggerated perspectives, I explore the inner textures of life: wonder, resilience, tenderness, rebellion, and the courage it takes to remake your life in midair. Much of my inspiration comes from movement — the literal movement of travel and the internal movement of becoming. My pieces often carry the energy of transition: the sense of looking at the world with fresh eyes, noticing the small joys, and learning to be surprised again. They are reminders that reinvention isn’t only about big leaps; sometimes it’s about the tiny sparks of delight that pull us forward. My process is intuitive and grounded in presence. I paint quickly, letting emotion lead rather than precision. I welcome imperfections, smudges, and unexpected shapes because they reflect the truth of growth — messy, beautiful, and alive. Every piece is an invitation to pause, smile, and reconnect with the parts of ourselves that crave freedom and play. Ultimately, my purpose is to create art that feels like a long exhale: work that brings levity to heavy seasons and reminds people that joy is not frivolous — it’s fuel. My hope is that each piece becomes a small companion on someone’s journey, whispering that reinvention is always possible, and that wonder is never out of reach.

Resilience, freedom, and authenticity are three words that come to mind when I daydream of Mexico. Discover Mexico through my eyes…and brush. Oil on Canvas.

The Year of the Horse Series

Independence, energy, and power. The year of the horse is all about motion! After shedding old identities last year with the snake, 2026 is the rebirth! Oil on Canvas

Boop the Nose Series

SPring Critter Series

Sweet, cuddly, resting animals. I love seeing animals that are normally on the move, either chasing or escaping, finally at rest. I also enjoy seeing humans at rest because I believe we do too much as a society, and it is time we celebrate rest and rejuvenation as much as we praise hustling.

This is where I started experimenting with mixed media (again). I hated it at first when I played with inks, acrylics, markers, and collage. I decided I wanted to have versatility in my work, so I gave it a second chance. Although I still don’t like acrylics, I do LOVE inks, spray paint, and mark making. I discovered I can create some dynamic layers far more quickly with mixed media.

Portrait & Figurative Series

I respect the beauty of a woman who stands in her own power. I love using color, movement, texture, and composition to show resiliency, movement, stillness, independence, and self-assurance.

Mixed media and oil and canvas.
